Householder applications continue to drive a rise in plans submitted

November’s Planning Market Insight Report provides further insight into this most unusual of years, where planning application patterns are deviating from the usual trends.

Yet again, last month’s planning application numbers were particularly high, almost equal to the number received in July 2020 (the highest on record). Against October last year, applications were up 23 per cent, and moving into November applications usually begin to tail off as we get closer to the end of the year. Whether this will be the case this year with further restrictions in place remains to be seen.

The upward trend for planning applications continues

October’s Planning Market Insight Report once again delivers news of an increase in planning applications, with September’s figures continuing to buck the trend in this most unusual year. September saw an acceleration of 29 per cent in the number of planning applications against the same month last year, making the monthly number of applications the second highest ever after July.
