How do I reset my password on the current Planning Portal site?

by on November 30, 2021

If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it by following the forgotten password process.

Simply click on the ‘sign in’ link at the top left of the screen, select the ‘Forgotten password?’ link and enter the email address that you used to register your Planning Portal account.

Your password will be automatically reset and sent to you by email. The reset password will be a series of letters and numbers that are case sensitive, therefore we strongly recommended that when you first log in, you cut and paste your password into the password field to prevent any errors.

If you have problems creating a new password, please refer to our guidance.

If you have not received the temporary password email, please check your junk or spam folders. If you still haven’t received this email, please contact the Planning Portal service desk and we will set it for you.

If you need further assistance, visit our help pages on the Planning Portal.

I’m having trouble creating a password

When creating a new password on the Planning Portal it must meet the password creation criteria:

  • The password must be between 8-50 characters in length
  • It must be a mix of upper- and lower-case letters
  • It must contain at least one non-alphabetic character
  • It must not contain commonly used words and or numeric sequences.

If you are using common words and run into difficulties when trying to create a password, try replacing alphanumeric characters with special characters.

When you have met the password creation criteria a green tick will appear under the field indicating that your chosen password is valid. Additionally, on the forgotten password sign in page you will be able to click on the eye icon in the new password field to see what you are typing.

You then need to re-enter this password exactly in the next field. Please note, you won’t be able to cut and paste from the create password field to the confirm or re-enter password field.

Please note: this advice applies to the current Planning Portal, there will be a different process for the new Planning Portal.
