Applications for Ebbsfleet Development Corporation

by on July 2, 2015

As some of you will know, the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC) became a local planning authority on 1 July 2015.  The EDC, established in April 2015, has the role of coordinating investment and driving forward development of a new garden city at Ebbsfleet, building up to 15,000 new homes.

Taking on the role of the local planning authority means that the Corporation has many of the planning powers that local authorities have – including the power to grant planning permission for development within the EDC Area.

We are currently in discussion with Ebbsfleet Development Corporation about taking on its own administration of planning applications and expect to introduce the option to submit online applications to EDC in January 2016.

Until then, Gravesham and Dartford Borough Councils, and Kent County Council (for Minerals and Waste matters) will process applications on behalf of the EDC but the decisions on those applications will be taken by the EDC, either by its planning committee or by the chief planning officer through delegated powers. Planning applications should be submitted to those local councils in the normal way.

Further information on the Ebbsfleet Development Corporation and its role as local planning authority, including a planning fact sheet can be found on its website.
