by on August 6, 2012

80% of local planning authorities now receive more than half their planning applications online, whilst a fantastic 48% of LPAS (193) receieve more than 60% online.

  1. I’m not sure if this is the right place to post but the new ‘improved’ 1APP form is good in that multiple documents can be uploaded, but the recall facility of previous document descriptions (under Document comments) has disappeared so as far as I can make out it has to be manually keyed in each time which is a pain. There also used to be an option for local level document requirements such as D&A statements and letters etc which has gone. I would expect to find these under Document type but it only gives Site & other plans and The location plan as options.

Also ampersands are rejected in file names yet they are used on the application form, even commas are rejected which seems very odd and it can mean spending time appending file names which takes time.

Still when yoiui go to Check the form it always says that the forms are incomplete yet when you click on the forms only the validation listing says Incomplete so you then have to click Validation and only then will it say Forms are complete.

I hope you find this helpful.

Here we go again Chris… don’t get me wrong I think the planning portal is excellent and it’s very encouraging that the online submission take-up is, or appears to be, going from strength to strength – really… WELL DONE to the portal team!!

Now lets have some statistics regarding how many LPA then print out those submissions! it would be very very useful to know who (if any) deal with applications without printing them off (usually a minimum of 3 copies) – a ‘best practise’ paper would be useful also.

I’ve absolutely no interest in promoting it but I have recently purchased “The Mobile Wave” by Michael Saylor through Amazon – it’s a ‘game changer’ as they say!

      Richard,
we are currently working with two local authorities to develop case studies along the lines that you suggest.
I anticipate publishing them here in September.

I have been submitting on line since March and seem to have problems with scale .and end up by having to send in hard copies to the L.A. Kirklees who state they cannot print off Location Plans and site plans to scale .This is very frustrating and frequently delays valiadtion of applications.
