Our new Building Control Portal is coming on 29 April, complete with handy features to simplify building control for you and your colleagues…

Single sign-on 

With the new portal, accessing planning and building control applications will be simpler than ever before, with all applications held in one place, behind a single sign-on.  

Now you can effortlessly view, create and edit both types of applications, toggling between the two, using one unified platform. 

If you already have a Planning Portal account, your existing login credentials will give you access to the combined portal from 29 April.  

If you don’t already have a Planning Portal account, you can create one here. 

Seamless data transfer 

Combining planning and building control applications like never before, the new portal will have a renewed focus on efficiency and accuracy. Applicants will have the ability to import key information from submitted planning applications to populate building control applications – reducing the risk of human error and saving time on tedious data entry. 

Fully compliant applications 

Rest assured, our new portal holds all the key features to ensure your applications are fully compliant, every time. Our system will be consistently up to date with all the latest legislative changes, leaving no room for ambiguity.  

And, as ever, for higher risk building applications, you will be directed to the Health and Safety Executive, meaning you can be sure your application will get to the right place, first time. 

Payment made painless 

Our streamlined online payment service will let you pay for your applications quickly, with instant confirmation of payment and receipt. What’s more, the new portal provides the option to either pay for an application yourself, or seamlessly create a shareable payment link, so payment can be directed to a nominated party such as a client.  

Please note: 

As we prepare for the launch of the new building control portal, there are some key time frames we’d like to share.

From 17:00 on 25 April, you will no longer be able to create or submit building control applications on the current building control website. However, you will still be able to view your applications.

If you have any draft applications on the current building control service that you wish to submit, please ensure you submit them by 17:00 on 25 April, as they will not be transferred to the new Building Control Portal. Alternatively, you can create these applications again on the new Building Control Portal when it launches.

Building Control Bodies and ICT suppliers:

Please download any outstanding building control applications on the current building control service by 18:00 on 26 April, after this point you will only be able to view and manually download applications.

If you are a Building Control Body that has not yet completed the onboarding process for our new combined portal, we need to hear from you before Friday 19 April. Please get in touch at communications@planningportal.co.uk as soon as possible.
