Final Day for Planning Portal Conference Early Bird Tickets!

by on October 18, 2019

We are delighted to announce the final agenda for the Planning Portal Conference 2019, which will address the pertinent topics which affect the planning and building industry, both now and into the future. With industry leading speakers in attendance, it’s not to be missed!

Taking place on the 14-15 November at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole, the event will begin with Sarah Chilcott, Planning Portal MD, addressing key data and market trends that have never been shared before. This will be followed by Lord Matthew Taylor, the opening keynote speaker, focusing on the new settlements programme, his previous work on the NPPG and ‘The future of planning’ just two weeks after the Brexit deadline.

In the afternoon ESRI will launch their new data product with Landclan which will enable you to view and analyse any land parcel, followed by Theo Blackwell, Chief Digital Officer of the GLA, who will discuss ‘GIS and open planning data’.

The day will end with a drinks reception and gala dinner, providing extensive networking opportunities.

On Friday 15 Lorna Stimpson, CEO of LABC, will explore The Building Safety Programme, and the significant changes it will bring to planning and design. This will be followed by an in-depth discussion on the topic by a panel chaired by Angus Law, Lecturer of Fire Safety Engineering – School of Engineering, Edinburgh University, with LABC, RIBA, ACAI and HSE.

Eve Cleghorn, BD Manager for Mears Housing, and Sian Davenport, BD Manager for Mears Care and Housing Management, will focus on ‘Different models for delivering housing’, discussing two of their current housing models, one for the design, build and delivery of social care housing and the other exploring homelessness and the ‘more homes’ project.

The day will end with a panel discussion focussed on the topic ‘What does the drive to build more houses mean for planning?’, with Janice Morphet, visiting professor – UCL, Victoria Hills, CEO – RTPI, Jason Longhurst, Director of Regeneration and Business Support – Central Bedforshire Council, HBF and FMB.  They will ask what the options are, as the government commits to building 300,000 new homes a year by the mid-2020’s which cannot be produced by the commercial sector alone.

There are many more keynote speakers and panel discussions across the two days, as well as the chance to meet and network with fantastic exhibitors, sponsors and other professionals from the industry. See the full agenda and speakers list here.

The deadline for Early Bird tickets runs out at midnight Friday 18 October; don’t miss out on the opportunity to get discounted tickets to this key event in planning and building, book here!
