1.5 million planning applications processed
You might recall that in February 2012 I reported that we had passed the 1 million online applications milestone.
It had taken 10 years of hard work to reach that point but he we are a mere 18 months later having notched up another half million.
Of course the number means little in itself but it does indicate that the planning system is well on its way to becoming ‘Digital by Default’ and it equates to savings by local authorities and applicants of more than £400m.
We are now running at around 75% of planning applications online and we’re handling a greater volume of applications than ever before.
Thanks to all our customers and partners especially in Local Authorities for helping us move forward despite all the difficulties along the way.
Last week I submitted two applications to a Council electronically. The Officer stated that the Council would not register these until they also received four hard copies of all documents.
I protested; they said no-one had previously complained. I pointed out to the Chief Planner that as a result of their policies they were actually adding a layer of bureaucracy to the process rather than removing it.
The applications were registered that same day without further information being required, but I do wonder whether they’ve changed their procedures generally.
Can you try and keep it simple and not keep adding things on to the form making it more complicated and time consuming to complete especialy where irrelevant questions are asked: see earler comments
Congratulations !
It’s not just helping to save costs at the local authorities but also in small practices like ours (which helps us to become more efficient and save the environment). Please keep up the good work.

Many congratulations and keep up the good work.
Still loving the planning portal except………and you know what I’m going to say….except for the materials page 🙂
Totally agree with comments from Jas Mann
