TerraQuest launch their new look website and rebranded image

We’re excited to announce that after months of hard work, our parent company TerraQuest have launched their new look website yesterday (28 July), taking the first step into launching their new brand identity.

The brand updates have been implemented to show the progression of TerraQuest since it was established in 1972, retaining the core company messaging whilst modernising, helping them to become industry leaders within their sector.

Planning Market Insight Report – July 2020

At the Planning Portal we have been assessing recent planning application submission data in our Market Insight Report, allowing us to analyse trends and review the impact that COVID-19 has had upon planning and building and how this effects other industry sectors.

Our previous reports from May and June showed a huge decline in applications across the months of April and May, with an 18.5% and 14% decrease in submissions respectively when compared to the same months in 2019. However, there has been an enormous resurgence in applications for the month of June, with an increase of 21% compared to 2019.

Changes to Prior Approvals for 1 August 2020

New government legislation, coming into effect on 1 August 2020, will look to ensure that all new dwellings built under permitted development rights provide their occupants with adequate natural light.

We are updating several areas of our online service for Prior Approval applications to account for these changes.

Planning Portal Virtual Conference 2020 – Registration Now Open

Registration for places at the Planning Portal Virtual Conference 2020 is now open, with early bird tickets available for only £75 +VAT, and free to attend for public sector officials.

The conference will take place from 16 – 19 November and will provide 12 hours of content over the four-day event, including speakers and panel discussions covering the most important topics effecting planning and building. The agenda will include planning reform, zero carbon targets, and technology in both development management and in the planning process.

“Most radical planning reforms since WW2” announced by Boris Johnson

New planning rules have been announced by the Prime Minister, who said on Tuesday that he wanted the UK to “build, build, build” during the recovery from COVID-19, boosting the economy and the construction industry. The “radical” regulation changes will look to ease restrictions and grant increased liberties to change the use of properties and land without planning permission and allows residential homes to be constructed from unoccupied properties, such as vacant shops.
