Get ready for our fully integrated building control portal

by on March 21, 2024

On April 29 this year, we’re launching a new, combined portal for both planning and building control applications.

Planning portal home of planning and building control launch new building control portal

We’ve been excited to introduce this update to the industry for a while, because we know it will make life for our users simpler – saving time and streamlining processes for everybody.

Fully compliant applications

Our updated Building Control Portal will contain all the additional information requirements necessary for Full Plans to be compliant with recently updated legislation, which took effect on 1 October 2023.

Just as before, if users are submitting for Higher Risk Buildings which require additional information, our system will direct them straight to the Health and Safety Executive.

Rest assured, with Planning Portal your building control applications will be fully compliant and get to the right people first time, every time.

Streamlined application payments

Just as with planning, the new application platform provides a streamlined online payment system for all building control applications, with the option to nominate a payee for added convenience.

Planning and building control applications will now be held in one portal, meaning you will be able to easily switch between viewing and editing the two. The new service also provides the functionality to pull through key details from submitted planning applications to populate building control applications. This time saving feature helps cut down on work duplication for you – and prevents those errors which can sometimes occur with manual data transfer – leaving you to get your application submitted and approved swiftly.

We understand that our professional users must often navigate a myriad of systems to manage multiple planning and building control projects and finalise applications. We are dedicated to streamlining these processes for everyone.

Last year, we introduced the Location Plan Feature to our planning application service, solving a key industry pain point by allowing applicants to create location plans as part of their planning application, removing the time and expense of sourcing them elsewhere.

Now, our integration of planning and building control into one combined application portal is another way in which we are making the complicated simple, to benefit applicants across the built environment.

Service fee

Just as with planning, building control is a complex and ever-changing industry. We know how important it is that our application system remains agile, able to adapt and respond to the changing needs of stakeholders across the sector.

We want to facilitate as much engagement with the new system as possible during its debut months, giving us maximum opportunity to collect feedback on how it works, helping us to tailor the product and respond to issues quickly for everyone.

With this in mind, we are giving applicants the opportunity to use the new service for an introductory rate of just £21 per application.

We are dedicated to working with you to discover what works best.

Following the launch of the new platform, will be in touch with opportunities for you to feedback and share your experiences using the new service.

Next steps for you

Remember – if you currently hold a building control account with us, you will need to submit your applications before the new system launches as they will not be transferred over.

Going forward, the combined portal will have a single sign on – your Planning Portal account. If you don’t already have a Planning Portal account, you can create one here. You will need to use this account to log in to the combined planning and building control application portal once it is launched.
