Online applications are becoming the rule, not the exception
The Planning Portal continues to see an increase in planning applications submitted online and the latest stats show that the total number soared again last year.
There were a grand total 242,694 planning applications submitted via the Portal in 2010-11 compared with 178,538 in 2009/10 – a huge increase of 36 per cent year-on-year.
This gave us around 48 per cent of all applications submitted online for the year, and for the last quarter of 2010/11 it was a hugely significant 52 per cent.
We can’t reach these milestones without the ongoing hard work of our local planning authority partners.
In March 2011 over 190 LPAs received 60 per cent or more of their planning applications online.
If you are a local authority that would like to find out more about how you can increase the number of applications received online, please get in touch.
Equally, if you are a planning professional and would like to find out more about the benefits of online submission you can contact our corporate account team.
We would like to make more applications on-line.
The reason we cannot, is the Portal’s inability to accept some applications, such as non-material amendments – or even provide the correct Notices when these have to made maunually
Hi John,
Thanks for your email and apologies for not publishing the notices for NMA applications. We’ve raised this with our policy colleagues and hope to get them added asap.
With regards to the online forms for NMAs and extant planning permission, we hope to include these application types in a forthcoming upgrade however we’re unable to confirm the timeframe at present.
As soon as we are able to we’ll communicate our plans to users and LPAs accordingly.
Kind regards,
Chris
Hello, this is a planning folk from Ontario Canada.
We are really impressed by the planning portal in the UK and it’s really something predominant and I believe it’s highly efficient.
I’m just not sure if it is still viable or convenient to submit applications for big projects like condos and blocks of townhouses online as they usually have big rolls of drawings and different sets of drawings for architectural, mechanical, and HVAC etc..
The portal only deals with planning matters, i.e. primarily external appearance and use. In the UK Planning does not require constructional details, mechanical, electrical or HVACdrawings etc.
Just to advise you that we have now published the Notice for the Non Material Amendment form, which can be found on the following link:

Please accept our apologies for this oversight.
