Mansfield to get £20m for regeneration
The Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) has announced that Mansfield will receive £20 million to regenerate the town centre and support residents in the most deprived areas to access vital services.

More than 450 homes approved in Wrexham
Wrexham County Borough Council’s Planning Committee has granted outline planning permission for a 455-home scheme.

Inspectors concerned about Traveller site provision in York plan
Inspectors examining the City of York Local Plan have raised concerns regarding the suitability of a site proposed for Gypsies and Travellers.

Biodiversity net gain details required from 12 February 2024

Legislation requiring information on biodiversity net gain to be submitted as part of planning applications and post-permission discharge of conditions in England came into force on 12 February 2024. We are facilitating this on our website and online application services.

Note: This post was updated on 10 April to reflect that the changes have taken place, including the ending of the temporary exemption for ‘small sites’.

Lee Rowley appointed as Housing Minister

We were delighted that former housing minister Rachel MacLean was able to join us at the National Planning Conference in Birmingham last week. During her opening speech, she outlined the fundamental role that planning continues to play in shaping a positive future for the UK, stating that, in light of the nation’s climate ambitions and growing desire for inclusive living and working spaces, the role of planners has never been more vital than it is right now.
