Upcoming improvements to our planning application service

We have been busy working with our colleagues at TerraQuest on an extensive package of improvements to the Planning Portal, which we plan to implement on 9 February. Some of these changes will notably enhance how our regular customers use the system, other changes may not be so noticeable but we are sure will be welcomed by many.

Updates to application questions specific to the Greater London Authority

Planning Portal have worked with the Greater London Authority to update several of the specific question sets that capture additional information in application submissions. This information helps to provide a more detailed picture of the development across the capital and facilitate monitoring of London Plan policy objectives. The following updates to Greater London Authority specific questions will be made in early February.

Improving the copy application process

We have listened to user feedback around the process of copying applications and are pleased to be able to improve this function with more flexibility and information where needed.

The feature will be available in early February, and we will monitor feedback and look to deliver further improvements going forward.

Use Classes updates

Following the launch of our new platform and the latest (v3) version of our data standard last year, we are now updating all but one of our questions that refer to Use Classes to ensure the options provided match current legislation. We plan to implement this update on 9 February.

Note that we encountered an issue when updating our ‘Non-Residential Floorspace’ question. It will be updated separately in a future release to ensure that this is resolved.
