Updates to application questions specific to the Greater London Authority
Planning Portal have worked with the Greater London Authority to update several of the specific question sets that capture additional information in application submissions. This information helps to provide a more detailed picture of the development across the capital and facilitate monitoring of London Plan policy objectives. The following updates to Greater London Authority specific questions will be made in early February.
Question set updates
Further information about the Proposed Development
Updating the ‘Details of buildings’ section to allow user to only provide details if relevant to their application.
LPAs – Where this information is not relevant to the proposal, placeholder data will no longer need to be entered by applicants.
Existing and Proposed Uses
Updating Use Classes options to the current list of valid Use Classes (see more details about Use Classes updates on the Planning Portal)
Residential Units
Changes
Adding ‘Development type’ field to capture additional information on the units proposed to be added. Options are: New build; Extension; Conversion; Change of use.
Adding new tenure types of ‘Intermediate Other’ and ‘First Homes Discount’ to allow these to be selected by users where relevant.
Adding a section that requires the specific residential site area to be provided in the case of mixed-use proposals.
Updating validation to only allow one ‘M4’ option to be selected for each set of units specified.
LPAs – If you are not using the latest (v3) version of our data standard, the development type, additional ‘Intermediate Other’ and ‘First Homes Discount’ tenures, and residential site area values will not be included in the XML data file and will need to be taken from the generated PDF application forms that accompany all submissions.
Fixes
A fix to provide specific data value for the tenure ‘Discount Market Rent (charged at London Living Rents)’ that was previously being shown in the application data as the ‘Discount market rent’ tenure.
A fix to ensure decimal values can be properly entered in all relevant fields.
LPAs – If you are not using the latest (v3) version of our data standard, the ‘Discount Market Rent (charged at London Living Rents)’ tenure will not be included in the XML data file and will need to be taken from the generated PDF application forms that accompany all submissions.
Other residential accommodation
Adding ‘Residential care home (Use Class C2)’ as a room type option.
Moving the field for ‘Number of proposed rooms to be specifically provided for older people’ to allow this to be entered for every accommodation type specified. Previously this was asked in separate fields that are being removed.
Removing the fields for ‘M4’ options as these were deemed by GLA to no longer be required.
Improvements to field level validation to ensure the values entered do not contradict one another.
LPAs – If you are not using the latest (v3) version of our data standard, the ‘Residential care home (Use Class C2)’ room type and the per-type value for ‘Number of proposed rooms to be specifically provided for older people’ will not be included in the XML data file and will need to be taken from the generated PDF application forms that accompany all submissions.
Superseded consents
Improved validation to ensure that if the proposal intends to supersede any existing consents, that details of those existing consents are provided.
Prior approval: Development for electronic communications network
Removing the specific questions for ‘Superseded consents’, ‘Development dates’, and ‘Scheme and Developer information’ as these were deemed by GLA to no longer be required.
