Planning to deliver sustainable development goals at the National Planning Conference 2022
There is just now eight days to go until the National Planning Conference, which will be held at the Birmingham Hilton Metropole on 17 and 18 November.
We will welcome a range of speakers from across the planning industry to speak on a host of the most important issues facing the world of planning today.
It is crucial that sustainability is at the forefront of the modern planning industry, and with this in mind we have put together a panel to share their views and knowledge on the topic of sustainable development.
Our ‘Planning to deliver the Sustainable Development Goals – Sustainable Development’ track will be chaired by Dr Joanne Oldfield, Lecturer at Sheffield Hallam University, will explore how baking-in sustainability at a local plan stage is critical to meeting the UK’s SDG commitments, using some great exemplars to bring the discussion to life.
Dr Joanne Oldfield will also be joined by panellists Tom Evans, Placemaking and Strategic Planning Manager at Swansea Council, Olafiyin Taiwo, who leads the Commonwealth Association of Planners’ Young Planners Network as the Convener and is also Co-chair of the UN-Habitat Planners for Climate Action at BAME Planners Network and Sarah Scannell, Assistant Director of Planning at Birmingham City Council.

It promises to be an engaging discussion that you won’t want to miss.
