International Women’s Day – a personal thank you

by on March 8, 2013

It’s International Women’s Day today so I thought I’d take a moment to reflect on the contribution made by female colleagues to the success of the Portal over the last 10 years.

Women have been instrumental in establishing and developing our service since the beginning.  From the then Chief Exec of the Planning Inspectorate Katrine Sporle who gave us the green light, through to our current bosses Shona Dunn and Jane Everton at H.Q.

Most importantly women have been at the very centre of things here in Bristol and on the road. There is no area of our business that hasn’t benefitted from the experience and expertise of female colleagues; be it in technical, administrative, business development or commercial functions. I have learned a lot about our business from them and continue to do so.

I can’t list every woman that has contributed to our success, but I will just mention one, who through her personality, manner and sheer persistence has managed not only to stick with the Portal since day 1, but has managed to put up with the foibles of myself and all the previous incumbents of my job as P.A to the Director.

Take a bow Lynne Pocock, thank you.
